Why tomatoes?  Ah the flavors, the colors, the taste of Summer. Tomatoes are among the most rewarding, vegetables one can grow (even if it is a fruit, botanically speaking). Heirloom tomatoes are famous for their diversity, strong taste and color. They are often home gardener's choice for cultivation, as one discovers the flavors that are just hard to come by in hybrid varieties. Heirlooms may not be pretty, they may be moody and temperamental, but when the year is good and the crop abundant, you are rewarded graciously for your efforts. The fruit you pick is heavy, warmed by the sun's rays, smells delightfull and is simply delicious!

What tomatoes?  We should have at least the following varieties available for tasting (the list is still changing as the farmers and gardeners check the availability of the crop): Berkeley Tie-Dye, Beauty King, Porkchop, Marvel Stripe, Cherokee Purple, Striped German, Ox Heart, Brandywine, Yellow Brandywine, Omar, Evergreen, German Green, Great White, Persimmon, Vintage Wine, Green Zebra, Black Plum, Marvel Streaked, Crimson Sprinter, Hess, Purple Calabash, Stupice, Reif's Red, Marianna's Peace, 'Palo Alto', C-Tex, Jersey Devil, Amana Orange, Isis Candy, Orlov Yellow Giant, Celebrity, Jubilee, Yellow Pear, Sungold and more! We will also have dry farmed Early Girl from Struggles Tomatoes, since Chez Panisse founder Alice Waters once told in an interview: "One of the best tomatoes I’ve ever had was an Early Girl that was dry-farmed up in Napa at a friend’s house."

Our Tomatoes for the Event  will come from the following farms we selected:
